Speech and Language resources

  • Speech and Language skills impact how an individual understands language and uses language
  • Language skills can impact understanding of spoken language but also reading comprehension and written expression.
  • Well developed speech does not necessarily mean that your child understands language.
  • Speech and language evaluations for your child's IEP should include receptive, expressive and auditory processing skills
  • Strong cognitive or intellectual skills does not guarantee strong language skills
  • Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder often present with social language challenges that require a pragmatic language evaluation, even when their expressive and receptive language skills are well developed.
