Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on examining and changing patterns of thinking and behavior. At Navigate Mental Health, one of our primary interventions is CBT.  Patient education, mindfulness practices, family systems and trauma informed interventions are also utilized. Individuals learn to advocate on their own behalf across all walks of life in order to improve overall functioning.  Importantly, each individuals strengths and personal goals will be identified to promote growth and change.

Psychologists are trained to address social, emotional and behavioral challenges by thoroughly evaluating patterns of behavior, examining the multitude of factors impacting behavior and determining what is  maintaining the  behavior. When your child works with Dr. Williams, parents and caregivers are directly involved in the process.

Dr. Williams is familiar with all parts of the Special Education process.  She can walk you and your child through the entire process from the initial referral to Special Education, to  review of existing services on your child's education plan at any point and all the way to the transition from secondary education to college.

Psychologists hold a doctoral degree in psychology and provide therapy and counseling services. Psychiatrists hold a medical degree and are trained to diagnose and treat mental health disorders with medications, in addition to providing therapy.
